City Square with Reflecting Pool - Inspired by the iconic loft buildings in the Fort Point Channel neighborhood of Boston, this 6 foot by 6 foot mosaic is made from matte ceramic tiles.
The reflecting pool in the center of the mosaic refers to the fact that many of the buildings in this area were built over water. The mosaic is installed on a seating area in Iron Street Park, on the corner of A Street and Iron Street.

For the mosaic murals entitled A Friendly Flock Touches Down, the inspiration came from children's artwork. I held art classes with children from the community at Ellis Memorial and United South End Settlements. The young students created beautiful prints, drawings and collages
of bird that I used to populate the magical landscapes for the Frieda Garcia Park in Boston. I love the idea of art living in a neighborhood and being a part of people's daily lives. Each site presents specific challenges, but also its own sources of inspiration. The mark of success
for me is if a piece earns its place and becomes an integral part of the community, as a meeting place or point of reference.
